Experience California History at Mission San Buenaventura
During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Spanish missionaries established 21 religious and military outposts throughout the land that would become the state of California. Catholic priests founded the Mission San Buenaventura in 1782, and the structure soon became the centerpiece of the new colony. Although earthquakes, fires, and tidal waves challenged the structure throughout the last two centuries, today you can tour the historic church and its garden, plus a small museum with artifacts from native peoples.Details
